چکیده
Exploratory work on the behavior of dc and pulse excited COlaser amplifiers has resulted in the design and construction of a prototype laser radar transmitter. It is capable of an output of 1 kW average power in a train of 10 |j.sec pulses at a pulse repetition rate of 10 kc. This report summarizes the experimental results leading to the final design, outlines the design features and discusses initial tests of the performance of the completed device.

Efficiency of Target Location Scenarios in the Multi-Transmitter Multi-Receiver Passive Radar
Multi-transmitter multi-receiver passive radar, which locates target in the surveillance area by the reflected signals of the available opportunistic transmitter from the target, is of interest in many applications. In this paper, we investigate different signal processing scenarios in multi-transmitter multi-receiver passive radar. These scenarios include decentralized processing of reference ...

Profiling of hot surfaces by pulsed time-of-flight laser range finder techniques.
The possibilities for using the pulsed time-of-flight (TOF) laser radar technique for hot refractory lining measurements are examined, and formulas are presented for calculating the background radiation collected, the achievable signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and the measurement resolution. An experimental laser radar device is presented based on the use of a laser diode as a transmitter. Results...

A Fiber-Optic-Based 1550-nm Laser Radar Altimeter with RF Pulse Compression
-We are developing a laser radar (lidar) altimeter that uses commercial off-the-shelf fiber-optic components and traditional RF and digital signal processing techniques to achieve fine-range accuracy despite a low transmit peak power. A 1550-nm operating wavelength was selected so that available erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) could be used to provide optical gain. The transmitted signal,...
